Let’s get this out of the way first. If you’re lucky enough to have bought a flashy new car, I’m jealous of you. If you haven’t already parted ways with your old one, you could always give it to me! Failing that, there are a number of other things you can do with it to make some cash, make a difference or simply get it out of your garage. Let’s explore all the options available to you.
The obvious route you might take is to sell it. This will provide you with some welcome funds to go back into your account! The way in which you sell it is up to you. You could stick a note on it and leave it outside your home. Alternatively, go online and utilise one of the many sales websites. If you’re going to do this, be aware that you’ll probably have to spend some money to advertise it there. You could even stick an advert on your social media pages and see if any of your friends want it!
Trade It In
Another alternative that has been made possible by the internet is the ability to trade it in. You enter a few details about the car, and you’ll be given an estimate as to how much you could get for it. Then, you take it to the nearest depot/location, and they check it out in person. If they’re happy with it, you’ll get your money there and then. Nice and easy, but not always the best route to obtain the highest prices.
If you’re anything like me, you only bought a new car because the last one couldn’t go anywhere anymore! If your car simply is too old and too battered to sell, it’s a case of needing to scrap it. You can scrap your car at many locations across the country, and it’s simply a case of finding the nearest one to you. Some companies will actually come out to you and offer a small monetary reward!
Give It To Someone Else
If you’re not strapped for cash, and you’re feeling generous, you could always give it to someone else! Sure, you might not get any money for it, but it’ll be out of the way, and it’ll make them very happy. Maybe you’ll choose a family member? Maybe you’ve got a friend that is struggling with their car at present? Whatever it is, it’s bound to put you in their good books!
Give It To Charity
Some charities are willing to take cars as a donation. They don’t normally end up using them, but they’ll benefit from the money they make from selling it at auction or privately. Again, this is where the internet is a valuable resource. Find a charity that is willing to accept cars and give them a call. You might get a small donation from them, but the real satisfaction is knowing you’re making a difference.
If you have a change of heart, you could always give that brand new flashy car to me, you know. I won’t mind!
